CVMBS Research Day is a showcase of cutting-edge research projects and approaches from members of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences community. The annual symposium is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to present their work and talents, connect with other students and faculty at CSU, and learn about other disciplines. In addition to the Department of Biomedical Sciences earning the “golden pipette” award, which goes to the department with the highest-scoring presenters from the day, 2024 award winners from the Tesfaye lab included the following:

Early-Stage Basic Research Oral Presentations category:

  • First place: Ghyslaine Ramírez (Tesfaye lab, BMS): Enhancing the antioxidant capacity of granulosa cells to mitigate the impact of heat stress

Early-Stage Basic Research Poster Presentations category:

  • Second place: Heather Rogers (Tesfaye lab, BMS): Transcriptomic Insights into Advanced Maternal Aged Granulosa Cells Emphasizes Inflammation and Immune Response

Early-Stage Translational Research category:

  • Second place: Brandi Dunn (Tesfaye lab, BMS): Generating physiologically relevant extracellular vesicles from bovine oviductal organoids

Additionally, the CSU Postdoc Research Symposium celebrates the research and entrepreneurship of postdocs and research staff from all CSU colleges and interdisciplinary programs, with participants competing for $2,000 in cash awards. Award winners for 2024 from the Tesfaye lab included:
