Samantha (Sam) Thomas is a DVM from Cornell University working on a dual residency in comparative medicine and a Master of Science degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology through the Tjalkens lab. Her primary research focus is on induction of Parkinsonian neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration through inoculation of mice with Western equine encephalitis virus (WEEV). She has a deep interest in all things neurology – it was her favorite subject in veterinary school!
Originally from Texas, she loves to go hiking (when its warm!) with her canine companion, Arkose. She also loves curling up with a good book, with her feline companions, Tom and Jerry. Finally, she loves all things art including painting and crafting – you may catch her doodling in her notebook from time to time!
