Dietary Rice Bran Supplementation for Gut Mucosal Immunity and Healthy Rice Crop Improvement

The major goal of this project is to examine rice bran components from diverse rice varieties for nonspecific induction of gut mucosal immunity in response to enteric pathogens using mice and pigs, and to establish pilot feasibility and safety of rice bran intake in infants at risk for malnutrition and diarrheal disease.
